Dermatologic Surgery

Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology is an integral part of the specialty of Dermatology. Residents are expected to demonstrate progressive improvement in dermatologic surgery skills during the three-year residency program. Through a comprehensive program that includes working under the guidance of surgeons from different disciplines, residents learn the basic surgical skills which are the foundation for intermediate closures, complex closures, local flaps, and full-thickness skin grafts.

The Dermatologic Surgery Clinic is held at University Hospital and Regenstrief. During this time period, residents perform surgical procedures on their own patients under faculty supervision. Each resident will spend time with the faculty dermatologic surgeon on monthly rotations. During this rotation, the resident will learn basic, intermediate and advanced surgical skills.
